Evolution Series

    At McFarland Rod Company we recognized a need for a faster action rod that was better than those currently on the market.  We wanted a rod that had a lot of power for situations like nymph fishing with big flies and lead shot.  A rod that could make long, accurate casts while throwing hoppers to big browns holding tight on a grassy bank.  It is easy to design a rod to cast well at longer distances.  The trouble is we don't always fish at longer distances, even on big rivers, so we wanted a rod that would also load quickly even on short casts.  While literally every rod manufacturer claims to have accomplished this, one cast with an Evolution and you will realize that we actually have. 

    Not being satisfied with any other fast action rod on the market, we started from scratch with the taper design.  McFarland Evolution rods are a total departure from the inept "tip flex" design used by other manufacturers.  Evolution rods cast well at any distance and have a higher sense of line feel than any other fast action rod available.  The distance potential with these rods is almost unlimited, and as a result they are quickly becoming the choice of many tournament casters.  However, the true beauty of the Evolution is not it's ability throw 100 to 120 feet casts.  The true beauty of the Evolution is how effortlessly it will throw 70 to 80 feet casts and the amount of sensitivity it has while casting and playing fish.  This is something that has been missing from fast action rods.  This is also why McFarland has never offered a fast action rod and why it took us over 5 years to design the Evolution.

    Evolution rods feature a beautiful dark green finish with matching thread wraps and fine metallic silver trim wraps at the ferrules and inscription area.  We use the finest nickel-silver reel seats with highly figured burled wood inserts and we import our cork directly from Portugal to ensure the highest quality grips possible.  All McFarland rods are hand signed and each section is serial numbered.  Evolution rods come with a hand made rod bag, matching green aluminum tube with the McFarland logo, and feature the McFarland lifetime warranty.
